PerkinElmer readers

PerkinElmer ships two distinct families used in automated drug discovery:

  • Opera Phenix / Operetta CLS — confocal high-content imagers for cell biology
  • EnVision — multi-label microplate reader covering absorbance, fluorescence, luminescence, AlphaScreen, time-resolved fluorescence
  • Image (Opera / Operetta) — multi-channel confocal imaging, returning images and raw quant data
  • Read (EnVision) — endpoint or kinetic measurement in the configured mode
  • Plate shake — pre-read mixing
  • Result retrieval — protocols write to Harmony / EnVision Workstation; Revolution pulls the result data and attaches it to the run

Revolution drives PerkinElmer readers through their respective control software (Harmony for Opera/Operetta, EnVision Workstation for EnVision) over the manufacturer’s automation API. Long-running imaging protocols stream progress events back to Revolution’s event viewer.
